Lagos Speaker Visits Mother Of Three Sets Of Twins

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has paid a courtesy visits to Mrs. Ruth Uche, the mother of three pairs of twins who was abandoned by her husband, Emeka Benjamin Uche, as the birth of the third pair approaches.
The Lagos Assembly Speaker during the visit to the 32, Awori Street, Agege residence of the Uches, presented food items, beverages and cash to the woman.

Rt. Hon Obasa told the woman to
give thanks to God for the successful delivery of the babies.
Describing children as gifts from God, the Speaker told Mrs. Uche to always give thanks to God in whatever situation she finds herself.
The Lagos Speaker also assured Mrs. Uche of assistance from the state government with the state Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode already ordering the rehabilitation of the woman and her children.

Rt. Hon. Obasa also advised Mrs. Uche and Lagosians in general to always make use of the health facilities provided by the state as they were built for their use and to improve their health.
Speaking at the occasion, Mrs. Uche expressed appreciation to the Speaker, saying she was overwhelmed with joy at the visit.
“I’m overwhelmed with joy at this visit and I pray to God to always be with you and continue to bless you,” she said.

In a related development, Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode on Friday directed his deputy, Dr. Mrs. Oluranti Adebule to effect the immediate rehabilitation and provision of welfare assistance to the mother of three set of twins.
This was contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Habib Aruna.
Governor Ambode’s directive followed newspaper publications which narrated the ordeal of the woman, who spoke with reporters during her distress visit to the Government Secretariat, Alausa on Thursday.
The Governor who was visibly touched after reading the plight of the woman and her children, noted that as a responsible government, the well-being of the people of the State irrespective of their ethnic, religious or political affiliation is paramount to his administration and assured that his government will continue to provide good leadership that will guarantee adequate protection of lives and properties of all Lagosians.

Her husband, Mr. Benjamin Uche was alleged to have absconded from home as a result of the expected birth of another set of twins from his wife, making it the third in a row.
While acknowledging the present economic situation in the country, the Governor noted that it is not proper for anyone to abandon his family, especially young children that they willingly brought to life, admonishing that it is only when such children are properly taking care of that they can achieve their full potentials in life and become responsible citizens in the future.
