Former Governor Of Kogi Is Dead
The late Afakirya, who was born in Lassa, Askira Uba local government
area of Borno state, governed Kogi from August 1996 to August 1998,
during the military regime of General Sani Abacha.
Following the return to
democracy, as a former military administrator, he was required to retire from the army.
Reacting to the announcement to Afakirya demise, the Kogi state government has released a statement commiserating with the family of the former governor.
The governor of Kogi state, Idris Wada, has praised the past developmental projects embarked on by late Afakirya in Kogi, noting that most of them are still in use in the state.
Governor Idris Wada, said the people of Kogi sympathise with the family and friends of the former administrator and prayed that God grants the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the loss.
