Le Guen has denied reaching any agreement with the NFF before they made the announcement.

The coach has however denied reaching any agreement with the NFF before they made the announcement.
Respected French journalist, Herve Penot first broke the news on Twitter, writing; ”Paul le Guen will not go to Nigeria. Conditions not met to be coach. Nothing to do with the selection today.”
Le Guen told the French journalist that he had a chat with president of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick and told him he wasn't interested in the job.
Pinnick was said to have spoken to friends of the coach in a bid to convince him and went ahead with announcement.
Le Guen, 52, said he was shocked when he was named as the Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The coach said he had no idea that he was being considered because it was never agreed.
Since the resignation of Sunday Oliseh in February, 2016, NFF made it clear that they were only looking for only foreign coaches for the Super Eagles.
Although about 20 coaches filed applications to express their interest for the job Le Guen alongside Salisu Yusuf and Belgian Tom Sainfiet made the final short-list.

Le Guen has also been the first choice of NFF President, Pinnick.
According to sources, the former Lyon manager had agreed a deal worth N16.2M (€44,000) per month deal with the NFF.
Le Guen’s denial raises questions about the integrity of the NFF Technical Committee who announced that they had recommended the coach after interviewing him.
The other short-listed candidate, Saintfiet also told Liveintel Sports that he waited in vain for a Skype call with the committee but was never reached.
Yusuf, who was named Chief Coach of the Super Eagles (assistant to Le Guen) has expressed his interest in handling the national team.
