Austin Akosa Dies In Lagos
Austin Akosa, a former coach who was also an ex-spokesman of the West African Football Union (WAFU), has died in Lagos.
According to Thisday, the deceased’s brother Chuka Akosa disclosed that Austin Akosa popularly known as ‘Sussie’ passed-on after a brief illness on January 16, 2016.
Born in 1941, the late former president of the Nigeria Coaches Association retired from the National Sports Commission (NSC), where he had served on many National federations as organising secretary, including the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) during the Nigeria/Biafra Civil War.
He was also a notable figure at the Nigeria Lawn Tennis Association (NLTA) in 1974, as well as the Nigeria Table Tennis Association (NTTA). He served as match commissioner in top soccer engagements across the African continent.
Burial plans of the deceased will be made public in due time by the family.
