President Buhari Replaces His Chief Security Officer

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked his chief security officer, Abdulrahman Mani.
Mani was fired on July 4, insiders in Aso Rock presidential villa in Abuja told The Eagle Online.
President Buhari immediately replaced Mani with Abubakar Usman.
The presidency has yet to formally announce the development.
The presidential aide Femi Adesina, directed all enquiries on the matter to the
State Security Service.
“I don’t speak on security matters, so you may have to ask the SSS,” Mr. Adesina told Premium Times.
The spokesman for the SSS could meanwhile not be reached for comments.
Some other sources meanwhile said that the president ordered Mani removed following repeated complaints that he was blocking people with genuine appointments from having access to the President.
“He was becoming excessively overzealous and overbearing,” one source said.
It would be recalled that Abdulrahman Mani was nominated by Buhari as his new CSO before his inauguration as president.
He is an operative of the Department of Security Service (DSS).
Mani’s appointment also came with expedited promotion by the secret service.
